What does the local Mary Helen Guest PTA do?
Not only do we plan fun events like the Ice Cream Social, Bingo Night, and Spring Carnival, but we also provide school supplies, assemblies, backpacks, scholarship money for field trips and other assistance for our students.
We assist our teachers and staff!
We provide classroom materials and technology to support the classrooms. We purchase books, volunteer in classrooms, offer assistance and financial support.
We promote health and wellness.
This includes facilitating our Run Club, Color Splash and Dash, and teaching our kids what it means to be healthy.
We bring families together with each other.
Our PTA is one of the most involved groups in the district and provides a variety of opportunities for every family to attend and enjoy. Building an atmosphere of community is always a priority.
Membership serves a purpose.
By joining and attending our monthly meetings, you will be among the first to hear about all the upcoming events. It also means you can shape our future by voting on and determining school events, purchases for the school and how things are run. PTA is non-profit, which means that 100% of your money goes back into our school and 100% of those involved are not being paid.
You do not have to join the PTA to attend all events, but the minimal cost of your membership will help pay for all the educational and recreational fun your child will have throughout the year. Your membership dues contribute to the budget that we use to support our school. Additionally, our full budget is determined mostly by our fundraising efforts. The more we raise the more we can do for our kids!
Volunteering is even better!
Our wonderful volunteers are the reason we thrive and grow each year.
Meetings, Meetings, Meetings
You do not have to attend meetings, although when you attend meetings you will find that you have more influence on decisions and event planning. We provide child care at every meeting and the kids who come have a great time. We stick to a one hour rule and meetings are only once a month.
For those in need.
PTA is here to support everyone, and we have scholarships for those who cannot afford it. Please speak to Mrs. Fiebke-Lang if you need assistance. This also applies to events and field trips. We are committed to making sure that all students are able to participate in school activities and get the most out of their education in the Walled Lake Schools.
Our goal for membership is 100% participation.
Having 100% participation shows our commitment to our school and our students. It also makes us stronger as a school community.
